HISTORY
In 2001, beaches residents formed a volunteer group and worked for
4 years to get Paws Park opened in Jax Beach. In May of 2005, Paws Park officially opened
and has been a success to the local residents of the beaches ever since. Paws Park is the
first FREE city-sponsored dog park opened in Duval County and we are thankful to the City
of Jax Beach for allowing us all to have the dog park. The dog park is a city park, but the City
depends on our volunteer group and the park users to make sure that Paws Park is safe and
enjoyed by everyone.

HOURS OF OPERATION
PAWS PARK is open daily, year round, from dawn to dusk. Paws Park weekly maintenance
is performed on Thursdays, so the park may be closed part of the day, but typically reopens
by 5PM. Any other park closings will be announced to the email list and posted on the website.

PAWS PARK MANAGEMENT AND
MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Currently, the City of Jax Beach mows the grass, removes the trash and fertilizes the grass,
but the rest is up to our volunteer group and park users: purchasing new items for the park,
fundraising, monitoring the park, educating park users, and addressing any issues that arise.

PARK USER RESPONSIBILITIES
As users of Paws Park, we would like to remind you to take pride in your privilege
to use Paws Park and do the following to ensure that Paws Park is enjoyed by everyone:
• Know the rules and follow them.
• Get a copy of our brochure at the entrance to the park and acquaint yourself with
the tips in the brochure.
• Always watch your dog when you are at the park. We see a lot of cell phone use and
those that are on cell phones are not watching their dogs. You must watch your
dog for your dog's safety and that of others using the park!
• Pick up poop! When your dog poops, pick it up! If you see any stray poop, pick it up!
If you see someone's dog pooping, tell them! We ALL must pitch in to keep Paws Park
clean...noone else is going to do it!
• Kids in the park: If you bring kids to the park, please keep them close to you and don't allow them to run and scream or pet dogs they don't know. This is a dog park and we want to make sure kids stay safe.
• Please keep your dog on leash while outside the dog park area. There are many people
who do not leash their dogs when they get out of their cars to come to the park or
when they leave the park. This is an accident waiting to happen...and it is the law!
Please obey the law and keep your dogs leashed outside the park.
• Kennel Cough: please have your dog vaccinated every 6 months for kennel cough.
Kennel cough can be spread very easily at a dog park, so please protect your dog
by getting them vaccinated regularly.
